Sustainable Development Goals

In 2015, the United Nations General Assembly embraced the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development as part of its Post-2015 Development Agenda. The 2030 Agenda espoused 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), aimed at holistic and actionable plans that would propel sustainable development, ensuring a just and prosperous future for the entire world by eradicating the existing inequalities and ills associated with development. 
 

Heeding the UN’s call to action, GESSUP responded by adopting the SDGs as part of its own ideals. To this end, we initiated an integration of our organizational ambitions with the detailed plans outlined by the UN to achieve the SDGs by 2030. In fact, we have translated these goals into our own efforts of advising and helping those from rural and semi-urban communities, especially women, gain financial independence, entrepreneurial skills, health advice and educational support. Wherever GESSUP operates, we make sure to abide by the goals of sustainable development by adapting them to our following areas of impact: 

1. Gender equality, through gender awareness programmes, entrepreneurial development drives and social security programmes curated for women, to empower them towards self-sufficient and prosperous livelihoods.
2. Reduced inequality, through skill development, financial literacy and inclusion and leadership training programmes among rural and semi-urban populations, in addition to financial and educational support to meritorious but economically disadvantaged students in our operational locations.
3. Facilitation of economic growth, through the provision of decent work opportunities and excellent financial advice/schemes, using which our customers can achieve financial well-being.
4. Clean water and sanitation, as part of the WASH goals under Seva, through which our clients can avail of financial help while adopting clean energy and undertake more environment-friendly business operations.

Indeed, we at GESSUP have created and developed fruitful partnerships with our workforce, clients and stakeholders in order to successfully achieve the UN’s SDGs.
